Goa
Goa has an enviable stretch of beaches complete with tourist friendly facilities and accommodation.
Anjuna, Baga, Calangute, Candolim Dona Paula and Vagator are the major attractions that provide spectacular scenic beauty with palm trees giving the final aesthetic touch.
Dona Paula
Location : 7 kms. away from Panaji, Goa.
Goa offers the best holidays on its beaches especially
at Carnival time during Christmas.
Dona Paula Beach is nestled on the southern side of the
rocky hammer-shaped headlands that divide the Zuari and
Mandovi estuaries. Providing a good view of the Mormugao
harbour, this beach is fringed by palm trees and
casuarina groves. The proximity of the beach to the
capital city makes it a popular tourist sight.
Water sport facilities are the key attraction of this
beach. The Dona Paula Sports Club offers water-scooter,
cycle, and motorboat rides. Other water sports include
windsurfing, parasailing, water-skiing, sports fishing,
kayaking and yachting. The beach also has a colorful
water sports festival in November.
The beach at Calangute is rocky. That at Anjuna spreads
long and the waters are gentle affording you pleasures
like crowded boat rides, motor scooter rides,
spot-the-dolphins rides, and motorboat rides.
Colva beach and Benaulim are quieter and less crowded
than Anjuna. The Fort Aguada beach offers gorgeous views
that merit a visit. Sinquerim and Candolim are also
quiet beaches that afford anonymity. It's the authentic
thing hidden away behind the imposing Fort Aguada Beach
Resort that is itself the ultimate word in tropical
luxury.
ACCESS: The nearest airport is at Dabolim, which is 29
km away from Panaji and 36 km from Anjuna. Air links to
Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram.
The nearest railhead is Vasco da Gama, 35 km from Panaji.

Kerala
Kerala is very popular as the land of beaches. Along the 600 Km. length of the lush
green vegetation of Kerala coast,
is blessed with many fine sanded, internationally renowned beaches and rocky promontories.
Kovalam
Location : 16 kms. from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Set amidst the blue of the Arabian Sea and the coast of
Kerala, Kovalam is one of the most
popular beach hangouts in India.
The long coastline lined with swaying coconut palm trees
and dotted with fishing hamlets is fast developing into
one of the world's best string of beaches.
Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. the
southern most known as Lighthouse Beach (where the
lighthouse is located is the most popular of the three),
Eve beach in the middle and the northern most beach,
situated to the north of old Ashoka Resort.
Chennai
Kanyakumari
Location : South End, Chennai.
Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin), which is two hours away from
Kovalam. The three oceans - the Bay of Bengal, the
Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet at Kanya Kumari.
Sun rise and sun set here are special, soul stirring
moments - given an opportunity do not miss the visit to
the Cape at sunset if not at sunrise!
ACCESS: Road links to Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and
Kanyakumari. Nearest railhead and airport is at
Thiruvananthapuram (16 km).
Marina Beach
Location : In the City Limit, Chennai.
The pride of Chennai is bestowed with a 4.5 Kms. long
stretch of Beach, the second longest in the World,
called the Marina Beach.
Mahabalipuram
Location : 58-km, South of Chennai.
Snuggled on the shores of the Bay of Bengal,
Mahabalipuram offers unspolied beach that attracts many
tourists. The matchless splendor that Mahabalipuram
beach casts is interestingly unique.
ACCESS: Rail links to Chennai, Kanchipuram and Arkonam.
Nearest airport, Chennai.

Mumbai
The commercial capital of India, Mumbai has some the
finest beaches.
Chowpatty, Juhu Beach, Arangal Beach, Marve Beach,
Manori Beach, Gorai Beach, Nirmal Beach, Kelwa Beach,
Arnala Beach, Bordi Beach, Alibag Beach, Mandwa Beach
and Kihim Beach are some of the well known
beaches.
Chowpatty (Girgaum),
situated at the northern end of marine drive, is a
strech of sandy beach.
Juhu, is a crowded beach
with residential apartments and bungalows surrounding
it.
Orissa
Gopalpur-On-Sea
This is a quiet beach on the eastern coast in Orissa.
It is ideal for for boating and a sea side run invites
visitors to share the expanse of the Sand and Sun.
Coconut Palms and Casurina plantations play hide and
seek with the sun along this coastline.The hot springs
of Taptapani are nearby.
ACCESS: Nearest railhead, Behrampur (18 km). Road links
to Behrampur.
Other Beaches
Besides these, there are lesser
known but equally beautiful beaches along the peninsular
coastline of India. To name a few Mangalore and Mahe on
the west coast and Pondicherry on the east coast.
Indian Islands
The coral reefs of the Lakshadweep Islands, off the
coast of Kerala in the Arabian sea and the Andaman &
Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal are perfect places
for water sports.
